ETPM, an offshore contractor, created the Serimer division in order to improve control of pipe welding operations which determined the time spent at sea by costly construction barges. Also Umax started supplying manual welding to the offshore oil and gas industry.
First welds by Serimer's automatic welding machines. The company started working at the spoolbase in Leith.

Expanded operations into the USA for major deepwater pipeline project in
Gulf of Mexico, with welding and spoolbase management operations undertaken in Mobile, Alabama.
Expanded operations further in USA, opening up operations at spoolbase in Port Arthur, Texas.
Expanded operations into Egypt to undertake the 20" and 26" diameter pipe quad-jointing fabrication for the Simian Sapphire offshore development project.
Serimer sold by Acergy to a consortium of Lime Rock Partners, 4D Energy Partners and senior managers of Serimer.
Awarded the contract to undertake the spoolbase services including welding, NDE and FJC at the newly constructed spoolbase at Dande in Angola, West Africa for a number of deepwater projects.
In February 2006 Serimer and Umax merge to form Serimax. The company has combined turnover of around €125m.
