We are achieving new levels of technical excellence on projects across our four main business lines: Landlines, Offshore, Spoolbase and Fabrication.

Erha, Nigeria – Setting new welding standards, offshore and onshore

In one of the most complex projects we have ever undertaken, Serimax delivered 2,300 double-jointing welds onshore and 2,670 pipelay welds offshore for the Erha development. We achieved outstanding results, including:

First ever installation of Offloading Lines (OLLs), welded in the 5G position with a Lincoln’s Surface Tension Transfer (STT) root.
35 OLL pipe welds completed in 24 hours across with low cut-out rates.
First time Serimax had proposed mechanised welding of 4.5" OD pipe in both 1G and 2G position.
Mechanised welding system functioned throughout and held an excellent reproducibility level.
Range of mechanised welding capability extended from 6.625" OD to 4.5" OD.

Tandem welding system increases onshore productivity

Serimax anticipates that a newly developed tandem welding system is set to increase onshore production efficiency. Radiographically, the welds produced were extremely clean in both workshop and field trials, exceeding the NDT requirements of industry-standard pipeline codes. What’s more, the trial pipelay ended with a zero repair rate.

The tandem torch and power sources were integrated into Serimax's proprietary pipeline welding robot, Saturnax. The system is now ready for high-quality welding and generation of suitable mechanical properties for high-strength steel line-pipe such as X80 and X100 and even some lower-grade lines.

Port Fourchon, Louisiana – Component fabrication on a 'massive' scale

Serimax provides a range of services from a base at Port Fourchon, Louisiana, including subsea remedial works and component fabrication, the deepest installation of jumpers in the Gulf of Mexico and full management of a supply and repair yard that has grown from 120,000 square feet to nearly one million.

Tight timescales are not the only challenge we face. Like many oil and gas production sites, the location presents logistical difficulties in its own right. We have to maintain a very dynamic and fluid schedule, dictated by the client’s offshore operations.
